My Approach

They always say, "Write what you know." I take that maxim seriously. Most of the situations and characters in my stories are pulled from real life experiences and people I know. This allows me to describe scenes in vivid detail and create realistic characters that feel authentic. I love writing dialogue, and it usually comes easily for me because they are based on people I know. All I have to do is drop them into interesting situations and have them respond as I know they would. Every once in a while, a character will surprise me and take me in a direction I didn't anticipate, but that just makes them even more lifelike.

    Murder mysteries are not my favorite genre, but my husband highly recommended I give this one a try, and I loved it! I felt like I knew the characters (loving some and utterly despising others), which is a big deal for me. I gobbled up this book, reading long into the night. It was full of surprising twists and turns, and the outcome was completely unexpected!

    It's rare to find a murder mystery that is clean with a clear Christian influence, yet maintains enough edge to keep the narration true-to-life and the dialog realistic. Death in Travelers Rest is one of those surprising gems. The characters are compelling and the mystery kept me changing my mind about the killer nearly every chapter. This is a page-turner worth checking out.

    I used to hate reading, mostly because I felt forced to read books I wasn't interested in as a child. Now as an adult, I enjoy reading more but I'm still pretty picky about what I read. If the first chapter doesn't pique my interest, then I likely won't finish a book. This book did not disappoint! I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it and found myself anxious to come back to it and read more, which is not common with me. I definitely recommend picking this one up!
